Philip Fung JP(Qual)
President, HKABA QLD Chapter

Philip Fung has been recently appointed as the Manager, International Partnerships for TAFE Queensland Brisbane “TQB” (formerly Brisbane North Institute of TAFE, Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE and Southbank Institute of Technology). As part of the TAFE Reforms, TQB is now the largest public provider of vocational education in Queensland, where over 40,000 local and international students get their world-class education and training each year.

In his role, Mr Fung develops and maintains international business partnerships with stakeholders in many countries including China, Singapore, Korea, Vietnam, Columbia, India, Sri Lanka, Iran, Chile, Denmark, and USA. TAFE Queensland Brisbane has been actively involved in international education since 1989, offering education and training to international students on campus in Australia as well as coordinating projects with offshore partners for joint delivery and customised study tours.
John Hebrard
Vice President, HKABA QLD Chapter
Manager, Small Business Solutions

John has over 25 years senior management experience in various industries. He started out as an apprentice in Mechanical Engineering with an air conditioning manufacturer gaining experience in fitting and turning, boiler making, electrical circuitry and field service work while at the same time completing his studies in a Mechanical Engineering.

John's career in sales and marketing began soon after completing his studies, as he derived a lot of satisfaction in dealing directly with customers. As a Sales Engineer, he developed the skills of listening to and understanding the Customer needs and to provide the most effective solution helped in large part by the knowledge and discipline of the Engineering training.

Another career change and a great opportunity presented itself as State Manager for the Locks and Safes Division of Chubb Security. This was the beginning of a successful 10 year career with Chubb underpinned by John's ability to meet the business objectives consistently, and where he subsequently served as State Sales Manager for the Electronic Security Division followed by a move to the national head office as National Sales Manager for the Regional Networks Division and later General Manager Marketing for the Electronic Security Division. To put this last position into context, the turnover of the Division was in excess of $A500m p/a.

While in the national roles, John completed a Masters in Business Administration at Macquarie University.
John now works as a consultant and does project work in sales and marketing. He tutors at the Queensland University of Technology in Integrated Marketing Communications and provides mentoring to final year students in the business faculty. In 2014 he accepted the position of Manager of the Small Business Solutions of TAFE Queensland, a department which is pivotal to the training and mentoring of SME's to improve their management skills.
Queenie So

Sales and Performance Manager, NAB Business QLD, National Australia Bank

Queenie came to Brisbane from Hong Kong in 2001 for University studies. She joined NAB in 2005 after graduating a business degree at QUT. Queenie is experienced in Retail banking, and business banking. She is currently the state Sales and Performance Manager looking after sales reporting and sales campaign for NAB Business QLD.

Queenie has been a committee member of HKABA QLD since 2012 and has taken up the Young Professional Alliance (YPA) Chairperson role in 2014. She has led and run networking events and career seminars in the past 2 years. Her goal is to further promote Hong Kong as destination for business and career progression for the young professionals in Queensland.
Samuel Lam

Intermediate Accountant - Insolvency & Reconstruction, Vincents Chartered Accountants

Samuel has been recently appointed as the Sponsorship Relations Manager of HKABA after becoming a committee member of both HKABA and YPA. As Australia and Hong Kong are sharing a closer and deeper economic and cultural relations, opportunities about the sponsorships arised and Samuel shares the responsibility to negotiate and settle sponsorship deals.

Samuel achieved the status of CPA Australia after completing both a Bachelor of Accounting and Banking and Finance and a Master of Accountancy with distinction at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 2014.

Samuel is currently working as an Insolvency and Reconstruction Accountant at Vincents Chartered Accountants with involvement in handling both personal bankruptcy and corporate insolvency jobs. Samuel has been actively involved in many voluntary administrations, liquidations and bankruptcies covering a diverse range of businesses and industries. His proactive approach to his work results in an ability to effectively manage risk and deliver quality results in an efficient, cost-effective manner. Such experience enables Samuel in advising company directors and offers and different authorities concerning businesses in difficulty as well as dealing all complex and unexpected bankruptcy/insolvency related matters.
Stephen Si

Stephen joined HKABA as a committee member in 2014 after participating in several HKABA events in the past 18 months.

Stephen is the owner of his Web & Graphic Design business established in 2013. The business provides one-stop service from product photo shooting to web design, and social media set up, as well as graphic design on print advertising materials to local small businesses.

Prior to this role, Stephen was a graphic designer and sales executive of a local Chinese newspaper and has over 6 years’ experience in the advertising industry.

Stephen built and manages the HKABA QLD Website and provides complimentary design service on print advertising material for various HKABA QLD’s events.
Joey Chan

Joey is a Brisbane-based professional with a background in law and finance. Joey is admitted as a legal practitioner in Queensland with experience in commercial and property law. Results-driven and passionate about people, Joey has delivered strategic and marketing solutions to clients across several industries including real estate, tourism and professional services. Her current role as Sales and Performance Manager of property development company, Acchoir Group, involves devising marketing and sales strategies, supporting her team of salespeople and sourcing new projects.

Joey is passionate about entrepreneurship and empowering people to live in abundance. In her free time, you will most likely find her exploring new cafes, enjoying the outdoors with her dogs or learning something new.
Emma Wang

David Chester
International Sales Director, Magic Millions Sales Pty Limited

David Chester has had a longstanding and highly successful career in the export of bloodstock. David is the longest serving auctioneer and Bloodstock agent in Australia. He commenced with Magic Millions when the Gold Coast Sales Complex was built in 1979, and was appointed Managing Director in 2000, a role held for 10 years until 2010. He stepped down from that role to concentrate on further developing the company’s business in Asia and other parts of the world.

During his period at the helm of Magic Millions, and in the period following, he has built up a contact base in Asia that has become vitally important to the success of the Magic Millions Sales. David pioneered auction sales in Singapore, Macau, Malaysia and the Philippines, and introduced Magic Millions races to Penang, Manila and Busan. He was the first Bloodstock Auctioneer in Singapore and the first European Auctioneer in Macau.

He has developed strong and trusting relationships with our international clients, enabling the company to maximize the level of service and provide individual solutions on a daily basis. He is always surrounded with international buyers at the Magic Millions sales who would like to get his professional advice about the bloodstock on the stage. His easy going rapport and outstanding support have enabled him to forge strong relationships with high profile buyers who make regular visits to the Magic Million sales.
Eddie Yuen

Eddie is the Director and Owner of Provital Pty Ltd. The company missions are to promote public health through introducing the highest quality medicinal food supplements to consumer and to develop new therapeutic agents through collaboration with world-leading research institutes including QUT and University of Hong Kong. Prior to this role, Eddie was a senior banker in the finance industry. He has over 15 years’ experience in the Wealth Management area. Previously held senior position at JBWere, UBS, and Citi.

Eddie has been the President for HKABA QLD Chapter since 2009. He has successfully lead the QLD Chapter to host many major events including the annual black tie Business Award event and various Business Forum. He is passionate to promote the trading relationship between Queensland Australia and Hong Kong/China.

Eddie has retired from his president role in Jan 2015.
Tina Chu

Tina possesses extensive experience in the areas of property development law and complex commercial transactions. Leveraging her legal experience gained in the public and private sectors, Tina currently heads the commercial department of a property development company - Acchoir Group where she thrives in devising commercial strategies with remarkable business acumen.

Tina is admitted as a legal practitioner in Queensland, New South Wales and the High Court of Australia. She also has special interests in directors’ duties and corporate governance where she has contributed and published in leading legal journals such as The Company Lawyer, Insolvency Law Journal and Regulatory & Compliance Journal.

Aside from her professional endeavours, Tina is a believer in leading by example when it comes to making a difference in the community. She has founded a not-for-profit organisation, A Worthy Cause Inc., served as a volunteer solicitor at various community organisations and takes a pragmatic approach in practicing work-life balance and conscious living.
